Structural Analysis for a Limited-Contact Dynamic Compression Plate Used in Osteosynthesis
This paper presents a mechanical analysis of an osteosynthesis plate using the finite element method. Plates are the most commonly used osteosynthesis implants for fracture fixation. The type of plate used as a computational domain in this study is the 3.5 Limited Contact Dynamic Compression Plate (LC-DCP). First, a model of a 4-point bending test was implemented. Subsequently, the plate was attached to a simplified model of a bone fracture, with a screw inserted in each hole. Different types of loads were applied to the bone structure and the mechanical behavior of the plate was observed.
