A mathematical model of joint contracture

In order to clarify the onset mechanism of joint contracture and to discuss the therapeutic effects quantitatively, we derived a mathematical model of joint contracture onset. Numerical simulations of the time evolution equation of joint contracture onset considering the effect of fibrosis repair were performed and the temporal variation in the density and the density change rate of collagen in synovial fluid, which is closely related to the onset of joint contracture, was clarified quantitatively. In the future, it will be necessary to specifically reflect effects of the various therapeutic in the mathematical model and to quantitatively estimate these therapeutic effects.
