Frequency Dependent Hysteresis Curves of Fe and FeCo Magnetic Powder Cores

Magnetic powder cores are involved in many inductors used in power electronics, due to their tailored magnetic properties. This work investigates the hysteresis curves, measured by a standardized system, of some low-cost magnetic powder cores made from Fe and FeCo particles. The experiments show the limits of using classical equipment at higher frequencies for these samples that exhibit significant losses. The measured frequency dependent hysteresis curves show various effective magnetic permeabilities. The results are useful to compare the evolution of total magnetic losses of these powder cores with the frequency increasing.
