Development of an Ultrasonic Cleaning System based on a Pulse-density-modulated Converter

This paper presents an analysis, design of system parts, and practical development of an ultrasonic cleaning system based on a pulse-density modulation converter. The use of the pulse-density modulation control method makes it possible to achieve a significant reduction in switching losses and increase the converter efficiency under various loads and with a wide range of power control. And the use of a unique filter for each transducer makes it easy to assemble the converter for a wide power range without the need to modify filter components. A prototype ultrasonic cleaning unit has been implemented, and the experiments demonstrated the operability of the proposed system. The developed unit operates at a frequency close to 41.8 kHz with a maximum output power of 200 W.
